Chiropractic Medicine
Chiropractic medicine is a way of diagnosing and treating individuals in relation to their muscular, skeletal and nervous system. Each chiropractor practices slightly different from each other but it is a standardized practice regulated by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario.
Available Techniques:
Activator: For those who prefer low velocity adjustments, an activator can be used for gentle adjustments
Applied Kinesiology: A modality which combines several different modalities (Please refer to the AK page)
Ultrasound: A therapeutic Ultrasound machine can be use to speed up the healing process for certain types of tissue.
Gait and Posture analysis: Sometimes a manual adjustment is not enough, an assessment of how you walk, stand and sit can be important to ensure further injury does not take place.
Athletic taping: Taping can be used for sporting events to temporarily provide more support to weakened structures (e.g. in the later-end of healing stages for an ankle sprain).
Vibro: A vibrating machine called the thumper is used to loosen up muscle before chiropractic adjustments are performed in some cases.
Traction: Manual traction can be used to reduce pressure on spinal nerves as in cases of sciatica.
